We are best able to welcome visitors to the Mareja Project in our peak season when the site is most accessible, June to late December.  The rainy season takes hold in ernest from January to May.  We do not have a strict open or closed period as the Mareja Community live here all year and welcome visitors. When Dominik and Sophie are available English and German are spoken, other times Portuguese is the local language. A 4x4 is needed to navigate the last long bush road and we often arrange collection from Pemba.  Pemba is a 21/2 to 3 hour drive away.

We have a range of rooms all very reasonably priced.  There is a twin, 2 double en-suite room, a dormitory and camping areas.  We have just completed two eco-lodges all made from local materials and constructed with love and attention.

We can accommodate groups of up to 10 at one time in beds or larger groups camping,  We bring all food on to the reserve, so need to prepare for your arrival and offer full board.  Antonio our cook prepares delicious simple but healthy food over an open fire.
